Name:

God has been doing phenomenal things in my life. I am no longer the person that I used to be; God has changed me. I have been made whole. I have been through the fire. There have been many days were things appeared to be down and very few days that looked good. God rescued me in the middle of my storm. When we call on God, he will answer us. However, there was a greater blessing in the mist of all of this. It was the relationship that He established between us. I have a real relationship with God now. Like any relationship there is a give and take. One thing I had to give was my time (there are other things but I won’t go there today). I had to take the time to study my word. That is how we get to know God; by studying his word. This Blogger shares the lessons that God has taught me.

The Word June 8, 2006

Acts 7: 54-60 (King James Version)
“When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”

-Yesterday we talked about Peter and his persecution and how he rejoiced because he suffered for Jesus Christ’s sake. Why all of the suffering? For what? The story above about Stephen gives us answers to those questions.
-Once again, like Peter, Stephen was arrested for preaching about Jesus Christ. As the people persecuted Stephen, the Holy Spirit came upon him and he saw “the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God,” (Acts 7:55). Then the people cast him out of the city and stoned him. As he we dying he cried out for the Lord to receive his spirit. Then he said, “Lord, lay not this sin to their charge,” (Acts 7:60).
-Image going through your worse moment and you see Jesus standing on the right hand side of God and then you are taken up to spend eternity with God. There is nothing more amazing then to be with Jesus. This world is just a test to get us ready to spend eternity with Jesus. So as we are going through our trails, we need to be mindful of the purpose of it all; to get to spend eternity with Jesus. “Lord, as I am going through my trials please keep me mindful that spending eternity with you is the overall goal.”
