Lessons Learned From
The Women with the Issue of Blood
Lesson Two
A Strong Faith in God will Get His Attention
Mark 5: 25-34 (King James Version)
“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
-When we have faith in God, it pleases him. How can God not recognize what pleases him? When the women touched Jesus He felt her touch. Her touch of faith got His attention, despite the fact that there were many people around Him all touching him. There was a difference in her touch and that difference was faith. Jesus stated that He felt “virtue had gone out of him.” The faith that came with the touch was so powerful that it healed the women and “the fountain of her blood was dried up.”
-Matthew 17:20 states that if you have the faith of a mustard seed, nothing will be impossible to you. The women came with that kind of faith and God had to honor his word. If we have that kind of faith in God, He will honor it. “Lord, please increase my faith in you.”
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
Matthew 17:20
