Genesis 14:12 (King James Version)
“Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the
Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.”
-When God sent Moses to deliver his people, there were many of them that did not want to be delivered. They were afraid of what the future might hold. They knew what evil to expect in Egypt because they were accustom to that. However, they were not sure of where God was trying to take them. As they were leaving Egypt, things did not appear to be in their favor. That is what caused them to question God.
-There are many things that we have prayed and asked God to deliver us from. When we do that it seems like things just get worse. It even appears as though we were better off before we even asked God for help. Well, that is a lie. Regardless of how things look, God wants us to trust him and have faith in what we asked of Him.
-In verse 15, God tells Moses to “speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.” It is time for us to stop looking back at how things were and move forward. It may have taken forty years, however, God’s children did make it to the Promise Land. There was no Promise Land in Egypt. “Lord, please help me to have trust and faith in you and cause me to not look back at what was, but to move forward to what you have in store for me.”
