The Fiery Furnace
Lesson Two:
The Good or the Bad
Daniel 3: 17-18 (King James Version)
“If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”
-Spiritually this is an awesome place to be in when you can truly say either way, I will not bow. There are many things that we may want in our lives. We may want God to deliver us in this area or bless us in that area. We pray the prayer with faith that can move mountains. However when the thing does not come to pass, we are all upset. There could be many reasons why what we have prayed for has not come to pass. It may not be time yet. What we have asked for may not be a part of God’s will for us. He maybe trying to show us something in that situation. It may not even be about us, we could be going through for someone else. He may never deliver us in that area. Paul said he had a thorn in his side and he asked the Lord three times to remove it and God said no because it kept him humble and in his weakness God made him strong (2 Cor. 12: 7-10).
-Whatever the reason we need to get to the point were we say either way, Lord I will not bow or given into my situations and circumstance. I will stand and when I have done all that I can do to stand, I will stand (Ephesians 6: 13-14). After Job’s wife told him to curse God and die, he said, “What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” (Job 2:9-10). “Lord, please help me to get past the ‘why, when, and how long Lord’ and bring me to a place where I can say either way you bless me Lord, I will stand and not bow.”
